Volunteer with us!
Reigate & Redhill YMCA has a strong tradition of volunteering. Volunteering is a great way for people to develop confidence and can provide a stepping stone to a job and a career. It can enable people to develop potential whilst offering community benefits.
The Board of Management who are responsible for the governance of the YMCA are all volunteers, as our many of our most valued helpers. If you are interested in volunteering with our board please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Volunteer Opportunities across the YMCA
For the past nine years the YMCA has also provided a structured Volunteer Playleader scheme for young people that includes a fun and comprehensive training scheme followed by a commitment to work with young children on a YMCA holiday playscheme
For our 2012 Summer Playschemes, we had 53 new volunteers and 34 new and existing staff participate in all playschemes. We run training days for volunteers, and recruit new volunteers several times a year. They are always fun and very interactive!
Staff and volunteers have the opportunity of getting to know each other, learn about health and safety, child protection awareness, basic Makaton sign language, and, of course, learn to play all the games and sport that will be taught and played with the kids!
Volunteer Training in working with children and young people with disabilities
To ensure volunteers at the YMCA get the most out of their volunteering experience, we offer new volunteers free induction training. Training will help volunteers to learn key skills and gain a better understanding of disabilities, safeguarding and health and safety. Volunteers at the YMCA are highly valued and their training, development and welfare is taken extremely seriously.
Next Volunteering Training is Sunday 17 March 2013. 10am to 4pm at the YMCA Sovereign Centre, Woodhatch, Reigate!

Thanks to a grant of £2,500 from Gatwick Airport Community Trust we were able to train two intakes of volunteer Playleaders. These young people undergo comprehensive training to equip them with the skills needed to ‘buddy’ disabled children during our playschemes. |
